The Daily Duel is a solo challenge that resets every day. Everyone gets the same 10 questions, so your score can be compared fairly with every other player's score that day. You have 12 seconds per question, and each right answer scores 100 points plus up to 100 more for speed.
Your result lands on the day's leaderboard, and playing on consecutive days builds a streak. Besides the everyday duel there are themed ones, such as Daily Music and Daily Decades, each with its own questions and board. It suits anyone who wants a quick daily game with no opponent to wait for.
