Double Down plays like Classic, with 15 questions and 100 points for a right answer, plus one big decision. You get three Double Downs per battle. Before a question appears, you choose whether to use one. You do not know what the question will be, only that you are risking it.
If you doubled and got it right, you win double points. If you doubled and got it wrong, you lose double. A question you did not double plays out as normal. The mode rewards nerve and timing: saving your doubles for when you are behind can swing a battle, and using them early can build a lead.
