King of the Hill scores time instead of points. The crown starts empty. On each question, the fastest right answer takes it, unless the current king also got it right and answered faster. Your score is the number of seconds you spend wearing the crown, so holding on to it is everything.
A king can only be dethroned by a right answer that beats their time, which makes a good king hard to topple. Over 15 questions, the most seconds in the crown wins. HELP! is switched off here. It is a speed mode at heart, and the player who knows the answer a moment sooner than everyone else tends to rule.
